This post is the evaluation of the cooperate video that I made. The creative outcome of this can be seen on my showreel.

We started discussing our initial ideas on 31/01/18 with our client. We discussed initial ideas and allowed our ideas to develop. We recorded these ideas and established a starting point of the video. On the 06/02/18 once we had developed a realistic idea we then discussed this with our client whilst planning when the video needed to be completed by. The client decided they wanted the video completed by March which gave us a 3-month time frame from our original planning date. Filming of the video commenced on the 20/02/18 and consisted of 2 days’ worth of filming. The video was completed from editing by the 14/03/18 and was then given to the client. We worked to a brief well in terms of a time frame as we completed it sooner than expected which kept our client happy.

When completing the cooperate video and working to the brief there was myself and my team mate Lucy Tindall. We both had our roles to play when it came to be being charge. We both made decisions together and had input on everything. Lucy however had more of a role corresponding with the client which consisted of setting the brief and deciding days in which filming should take place on and what would suit the establishment. I on the other hand had more of a role when it came to planning the show and I made sure that were working to our time frame. I also made sure equipment was booked out when needed and that the storyboard was completed in time for Lucy to finalise the idea with our client. We made sure that would complete the music video on time by recording everything in a production schedule that showed us our own deadlines. This enabled us to see what was needed to do in order to meet our next scheduled date.

Our ideas we decided in a group decision which came after we read the brief together. We brain stormed our ideas with what we would have been capable of but what would be of something that would suit the clients brief and the establishment. We then watched some already existing cooperate videos on a pub to establish how ours should flow. We came to the decision that our ideas would highlight the standard of the pub and how welcoming it was from staff opinions and video footage of the pub. Our ideas were recorded and developed on a Tuesday afternoon for 2 hours for all weeks in which the cooperate video was being planned. We also had meetings with our technician to book out our equipment and email correspondence with our client to plan a set date after they were happy with what we had planned.

Other than producing a production schedule we met our deadlines by ensuring that we always communicated with each other to ensure we were both up to date in what we had done and what we needed to do. All our deadlines were met which enabled us to work well with our client but also to our collage deadlines.

If I had to the task again I would make sure that more shot variations of the outside of the pub and inside rooms where done to ensure the audience had more of a clearer picture of what the pub looked like and what they would be paying their own money for.

I feel the music video was a success as it meets the brief in which was set by our client and suits the purpose of it by being to the point, attention grabbing and short. A code and convention that was met was the use of interviews in the cooperate video. This meets what is expected from a cooperate video and allows the audience to have a more personal opinion on what the business is like. Another code and convention music used was an acoustic slow song what highlighted the classiness and ambience that surrounds the establishment.

The best bit of the cooperate video is the fact that the video meets the brief that was set. This was through the video showing the establishment in it best light with clips highlighting what the pub is known for and why you would want to stay there.

The weakest part of the video and something that I would want to improve on is how the video highlights potential rooms the audience can stay in but doesn’t show them the full rooms. This could be improved by more clips being added of the rooms that would therefore make the audience more confident in wanting to spend money in staying at the pub and them knowing what they can expect.

The client viewed the video after we had finished it and they fell emotional and proud of what had been produced. This was through the video highlighting the business in a light that showed it for what it was. My family and friends on viewing the video felt like they wanted to go to the establishment and invests their time and money in to going to something that I had portrayed din the video.

Overall the cooperate video was a success by abiding to a brief that was set and showing an establishment in a professional and positive light.
